First Bikes

Since we are spending Christmas in Utah, we decided to give the kids their big Christmas gifts a few days early. Their reactions made our day! Granted, Aiya would grin and squeal like this if you gave her a candy bar. She loves gifts and surprises and is just all about fun. But it was extra special to see her cute face light up at the purple and pink bike. It was hard to see a smile from Aaron, since he's attached to that binky of his! His expression as more serious, but he hopped right into that car and pulled the door shut and wouldn't get out for a long time! Christmas success!

As for Aiya learning to ride her bike... I knew her excitement would skyrocket to frustration, which it did within less than a minute, captured in one of these priceless photos. There was a lot of alternating between thrilled laughter and tears as we tried to help her with pedaling. She just needs some practice!

Playing out in our caul-di-sac made me so happy. Dan and I had envisioned this moment from the first day we eyed this neighborhood, imagining riding bikes with our kids. I can't wait to take them for a ride around the water basin, which is a mile-long path perfect for running or biking. Maybe next fall, bikes will be in the plans for Dan and me! And a little pull-along seat for baby. =)
