Newport Beach

Last month, the Vegas Kiefers enjoyed a quick weekend trip to Newport Beach. I could have used another day, but the time we spent together was so relaxing! As I mentioned before, I was super sick on the drive down there and thought I was having a bad run-in with morning sickness (which I think turned out to be a virus). With thanks again to Carrie for supplying me with Vitamin B-12 and Unisom, the trip had an immediate turn-around and I felt great!

The weather was unbelievably perfect. Well -- maybe not perfect. Too cold for any of the ladies to want to swim in the chilly water; we left that up to the boys. But laying out on the sand in our swimsuits with the option of shade from our umbrellas was amazing. I couldn't believe how easy the kids were! Lila mostly did her own thing -- in fact, so did Aiyana and Calvin. The three of them just played in the sand or on the beach chairs while the men swam and the women lounged about talking or reading. Aiyana didn't wander away towards the water or even beyond the vicinity of our blankets/mats. Our biggest problem was stopping her from eating sand occasionally, and a couple rounds of diarrhea (sorry to the strangers swimming in the ocean nearby. Lots of great food; great company; great weather; and RELAXATION. Loved it.
